If
only the writers of Trek cared as much as everyone involved with this
site! I've bookmarked this along with EAS! Thanks again!

Ya, hiya. Interesting site with some nice theories. I was especially impressed by the starships section. Sendell

Well,
he still does rule India in this scenario, he just starts off somewhere
else.;-) He was "Undisputed ruler of 1/4 of the Earth" so it leaves
some breathing room for him to begin in Africa, the Middle East, or
East Asia.

One possible
problem regarding the WW3 article- Correct me if I'm wrong, but I
seem to remember that Khan ruled India, rather than Iraq.

IIAlso most nations that have nuclear weapons keep a sizable portion
aboard submarines to keep them safe from a decapitating first strike
like that presented in that article, even as governments downsize their
nuclear arsenals, submarine launched ballistic missiles tend to be the
one area that isn’t downsized. Maybe the EC deployed a bunch of Hunter
Killer submarines to negate these? China a country I assume to be in
the Eastern Collation has been building lots of attack submarines in
recent years and would fit in with that theory. Also the polar ice is a
common hiding spot for missile submarines, which fits in with Lt.
Reed\'s story about his ancestor’s submarine hitting a mine under the
ice and drowning while his crew escaped- mines are cheap and common way
to protect a “boomer” under the ice. Just some things to consider from
someone who has friends ‘in the biz’.

IDue to the limit on characters I have to post this in two entries…I
enjoyed the History of WWIII article and would like to share some real
life information you may not be aware of. Despite advances in
transistor technology the Russian military still uses vacuum tubes in a
lot of its weapons making them basically invulnerable to EMP. Perhaps
this is why the Eastern Coalition was unable to take out their military
forces as they did NATO?

Love
the ideas here, especially explaining away the in-jokes and
inappropriate names for Federation ships but I must say I'm confused
why the USS Zhukov should be changed. He was a Allied war hero of WW2!
OK, he was a Soviet hero and therefore not a hero of freedom and
liberty but the most relivant fact is he defeated the Nazis and aided
the 'good guys'. Now, changing Cortez is right (I think the ST people
thought of his exploration before his exploitaion) but Zhukov is still
a military hero in post-Soviet Russia and deserves a fictional starship
named in his honour!

Interesting
theories... imaginative, therefore interesting... however the
"Cochrane's acromegaly" theory requires a small remark: both the
etiology of acromegaly as a "thyroid tumor" and its clinical
presentation as "gigantism" are downright wrong. Certainly Trek has
always produced lots of meaningless medical technobabble ("inoculation
for radiation" being one of the most... you get the point ;-) ) but
Acromegaly is not some weird future condition; it's a defined clinical
entity!! As for the rest... very interesting indeed!**Well, I wasn't
trying to treat it as some "weird future condition," but rather trying
to find a rational explanation using actual medical terminology. That
being said, I'm not a doctor and was approaching this from a layman's
perspective, so any corrections you have would be helpful in trying to
fix the article, which is certainly a work in progress. Thank you for
your comments. (Patrick Carroll AKA Bond, James Bond)

Fixing
the Wrongs:"USS Peterson - Named for Edward Peterson, 21st century
Marine Biologist who among other things was the first person to capture
a live giant squid on video."Wasn't this done by a team of Japanese
scientists? Or maybe I'm wrong and Peterson was on the
team. Anyways, I hope that the list is updated as events
occur. For instance, USS Elkins NCC-74121? No, I say USS
Rice. Also, USS Frederickson NCC-42111 sounds a bit
contrived. I'm gay, and I often don't see those who fight for
"gay rights" as actually being on my side. Like Jesse Jackson and
other black people. I'm also uneasy about Starfleet being for any
rights...they do seem to be a military dictatorship of sorts.

Regarding
"Fixing the Wrongs", we had only the names of existing vessels to work
with, and most of them sound too human so it would be a stretch to
claim that they are of alien origin. Okay, Clavyn could be another
alien name and maybe Norkova. (Bernd Schneider)

Just
a little note according to "Fixing the Wrongs" in category
"starships":It's really great and full of fantasy (i think, u would be
a good storywriter for every RPG), but I have a little problem with it
... u just have 2 names reffering to non-terran races. Why? In our RPG
we often have NPS (non-played ships, dramatis navigata) with names from
other cultures - for example our last ship was named for "first bajoran
to sail around the planet", other examples are "president of the
liberty union on katarus" or "first warp pilot of betazed"Maybe U take
some of these into consideration...;)(I hope, my English was good
enough to understand *g*)

Wow!!!
I've never seen so many effive deux ex machinas on star trek
continuity. Heck, you've explained much like why the vulcans
distrusted humans during Enterprise and how in the world did B4 fell to
romulan hands. excellent!!!

"Sorry
to say this, but there is a huge hole in the History of WW-III theory.
We all know it's 2005 and the Saddum Hussein is not dead. Therefore the
entire theory can be but in the trash bin."Oh thank the Lord. Does that
mean I don't have to worry about that Ferengi landing in 1947 anymore?

Uhm.
It is exactly the point of the WW III theory that Trek history diverges
from real history. So it could be 2001 just as well as 2005. Certainly
genetically enhanced humans will not rise to power soon in our real
world anyway. (Bernd Schneider)

This
is very good so far. Found some spelling errors on some pages. Would be
interesting to see when/where the Mirror universe diverged from the
non-Mirror universe. I suspect the Mirror universe started when George
W. Bush was elected president in 2000...
