Star Trek, with its many live-action series and movies, is an extremely complex science fiction universe. As such, it can't be free of continuity issues. Whether it's the changing make-up of alien species, the contradictory size of Federation space or the seemingly anachronistic design of a starship, there is no satisfactory canon solution to many inconsistencies. The year 2017 even brought us a reboot of the franchise with the hard to maintain official affirmation that everything is still supposed to be the same timeline.

But what would Star Trek be without caring fans who come up with ingenious theories to fix continuity issues, fans who attempt to tie up loose ends that exist in canon Trek?
